The RISM project is sponsored by two organizations, the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) and the International Musicological Society (IMS). RISM is one of these organizations' four joint R projects.

Day-to-day work on the RISM project is undertaken by the RISM Central Office (Zentralredaktion) and working groups in many countries around the world. In total, about 100 people contribute to RISM.

All members of RISM working groups and individual contributors form the Advisory Council. The Council meets once per year at the IAML congresses. From the Council, five members are elected who act as representatives of the working groups and liaison with the Zentralredaktion. This smaller group is called the Coordinating Committee.

The Association is the legal body that sponsors RISM. Its membership includes the board of directors; the Commission mixte, which is a body made up of representatives from IAML and IMS; and additional members from around the world.

Our motto...
Knowing what exists
and where it is kept

...lives through the exchange of information. Join the RISM Community and learn how you can contribute to the project.
